If you really want to see a certain Shimeji in the app, you can message me, or message the artist directly and tell them about this app and to contact me, or just go ahead and import it yourself. I don’t have a short list of downloadable Shimeji because I’m trying to deprive anyone- it’s because I have to take the time to reach out to the artists and ask permission to use/distribute their art. For throwing their artwork into my app, I feel obligated to at least let them know and ask for permission.
Without them, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy our desktop buddies. But I’ve always felt Shimeji is a community supported by its artists.

I know there’s some general impatience about the Shimeji download list being rather sparse or not having characters from your favorite fandom.Īnd it would honestly be easy for me to just go up and down DeviantArt or whatever looking for images to rip and throw up there. I’ve added quite a few Shimeji this time around.ĬREDITS Edd (Eddsworld) by ludmilabb2 Eevee (Pokemon) by Cachomon Charmander (Pokemon) by Cachomon Squirtle (Pokemon) by Cachomon Yoshi (Mario) by Cachomon There is also a Close All button on the select screen for ultra-obviousness. You may have to clear out other notifications if you can’t see it, or hold down and drag downwards to expand the notification to see the Close All button depending on your OS level. … Funnily enough, I’d worked on getting Shimeji’s to be harder to kill (Android will automatically kill off services when memory gets tight or they deem it to be not in use…) because people were complaining their Shimeji kept vanishing… So I added a Close All in the notification above in the status bar.

Let me know if this isn’t the case though!Īnd I noticed with the ‘permanence’ of Shimeji, people were getting confused on how to close Shimeji on the screen. Fortunately most shimeji fall below the size limit so only a few people got hit.
I theorize any image that exceeded the allowed size was resized by the app automatically and gave rise to the background suddenly turning black due to a change in format. So all in all, some larger scale projects I’ve undertaken for Shimeji, and that’s why updates have slowed.īlack backgrounds have probably been fixed. I’m also adding in the ability to set the duration of each frame when editing animations. The personality system will let you set a Shimeji’s personality, and at first, this will only effect how they interact with one another, but perhaps in the future, it will decide how active or interactive they are with you. Right now Shimeji don’t really know where each other are on the screen, but soon that’ll change. That aside, I’m working on an emote bubble system and a personality system to enhance Shimeji interaction with each other. No release date yet, since it needs vigorous testing and more art (I draw these myself too…) The selected configuration will then be used to create a basic Shimeji’s animation frames. This feature, in its completed state, will let users select from their choices of skin, eyes, hair, mouth (expressions) and clothing. To begin with, I’m in the process of building a Shimeji generator. Quite a few different branches of the project I’m working on right now, but I hope they’ll all be interesting for you guys.
